My Name Is Cora, it is so wonderful to meet you! While I am very obviously a tattoo artist and visual artist, I am also an activist in the body art industry.

My Story

I entered the tattoo industry barely 18, bright eyed not knowing what to expect. I could never have guessed all that was to come. Since 2018, I have witnessed everything this industry loves to throw at young women and minorities.

These hard times are not only what brought me to Skynn, but also what founded my mission. I strive to create a safe space for everyone who sits in my chair. At the core of "Bodies are Beautiful" is not only the goal to create noise for those of us who are so often silenced, ostracized, and sexualized in this world: but to highlight the most beautiful part of tattooing.

Our bodies are so much more than mere flesh. Through radically loving and expressing ourselves in a world that pushes us to hide, we can start a new wave of what tattooing is. A world where people of all shapes, sizes, colors, sexualities, and gender can come together to create a life that mimics art.

Artists and clients alike deserve so much more than what history has offered us, and I am here to create the future with you. I am taking a trauma informed and environmentally friendly approach to sculpting a new industry all together, and I hope that you will join me.

Virtual Assistant/ Owner of Ink Assist

Lindsey

I was born and raised in Utah before moving to Austin, TX in 2006. I have always loved the tattoo industry and have been collecting tattoos since I turned 18. After working for years in the accounting/bookkeeping field I realized that my organizational skills could be utilized within the tattoo community. I started working for a tattoo artist in 2017 and have added multiple artists over the years by word of mouth. With my experience working for artists, as well as my own time spent on the tattoo table, I feel that I possess the knowledge and skill to not only cater to my clients but be compassionate and understanding towards the customers reaching out. It is my goal to make sure that the first person they speak to reflects positively on the artists so that they can continue to grow their business.

Scott Ascher

Scott has decades of experience running and organizing business in the virtual and culinary arts. He studied at Bradley University, but his experience beats any degree. His office is located downtown Geneva, IL. Previous owner of the round house in downtown Aurora, IL. From Scott: My wife wanted to get a tattoo.. she got a dragonfly

And she asked me if I would like to get one.
Immediately said, no... but began to think about what I knew about Tattoos?
What came to mind was my 4th grade teacher.
She had a letter series of numbers tattooed on her forearm.
When we asked about it, she said it was from Auschwitz.
One girl asked, Why don't you get it removed?"
Teacher replied, "We must never forget."

Instead of choosing a font, she just used a non-artistic freehand

Other Mediums

Other than tattooing Cora thoroughly enjoys acrylic painting, charcoal and graphite drawing, mixed media, and collage. Her preferred non illustrative art forms include; DIY, sewing, makeup, earth art, piano, and classical guitar.

Books, coffee, and thrifting

Don't ask her about these subjects, she won't shut up about them.

Non Art Hobbies

Cora is a nature enthusiast! When she is not spending time going feral in the woods or paddle boarding, she enjoys volunteering in wildlife rehabilitation, earth science education, and conservation projects.

Animal Lover

Aside from her 3 cats and two chinchillas consuming most of her life (and Cora being very happy about it), she also takes an occasional foster and has been vegan over a decade.

Philanthropist

A consistent theme throughout her life has been giving back to those in need. She has a wide range of volunteer experience including homeless shelters, food pantries, poverty aid for young children, animal shelters, special needs children, animal rights activism, environmental cleanup, sick and elderly care, and wildlife sanctuaries.

Movies

Another topic she will go on forever about. Cora enjoys classic films, horror, gore, psychological thrillers, and anything before CGI. She has been accused of being a "film bro".. tread lightly. Notable Mentions: Rosemary's Baby, Evil Dead 2, The Phantom of the Opera, and Alice in Wonderland.

The Queen of the Castle

Stella

Stella is a 10-year-old seal point rescue. She is the highest maintenance cat you will ever encounter. We will all happily go to war for her. She could do calculus if she wanted to.

Fun Fact: Stella is very cross eyed, this means she is half blind. This also means she permanently looks like an anime character. It is her most valuable tool.

The Funny Best Friend in Every Sitcom

Benjie

Benjie is a peach cat, but his soul is pure orange. He is 4 and quite fat. He cannot do a diet because Stella goes on a hunger strike if we try to do scheduled feeding times. On top of this he steals all the other cat's food in 45 seconds or less when this is attempted.

Fun Fact: Benjie was found in an acquaintances garage. His mom rejected him for being the runt. This trauma has made him not only food motivated, but very territorial over Cora. If he wants attention he will wreak havoc until sattisfied. Sharing is not in his vocabulary.

The Diva Granny

Death Mittens

Her full name is Death Mittens, but we just call her Mittens. She is a 10? year old chinchilla. Originally a long-term babysitting situation, it took some time for us to realize she was home with us permanently now. She is very sassy and a total momma's girl. She refuses to eat any real food, processed pellets and premade treats only. Her favorite hobbies include antagonizing Porter, listening to the radio, watching party lights, and begging for treats.

Fun Fact: If she likes you she will pee on your shoes.

The Houdini Nursing Home Resident

Powder Puff

Shortly after we realized Mittens was a permanent resident of our family now, Cora realized she needed a Chinchilla friend. She found 14? Year old Powder Puff, who goes by Puffy, at a local animal sanctuary. Mittens prefers her own apartment, but they are happy neighbors who enjoy their conjoined play time. Her favorite hobbies include escaping her habitat when Cora is not home, eating strawberries, and parkour.

Fun Fact: Puffy is very small for a chinchilla, this means she will climb on top of your head and sit there while you walk around.

The babiest baby you will ever baby

Porter

Porter is spoiled rotten. He loves attention, going outside when he isn't supposed to, and cuddling. He is Benjie's best friend... potentially more than friends. His meow sounds like a squeak toy. He is 3 but still acts like he's 3 months, he knows what he is doing. He was found under an acquaintances deck in Porter, Indiana.

Fun Fact: He weaponizes screaming. Prepare to be yelled at regularly. He is always the little spoon.
